Atty. Darwin P. Angeles Delivers Keynote Speech in UBP’s Selyado 4.0

MOSVELDTT Law partner and IP department head Atty. Darwin P. Angeles delivered the Keynote Speech for the opening ceremonies of UnionBank of the Philippines’ (UBP) “Selyado 4.0”, last May 18, 2022. With the theme “Safeguarding Data and Information of Individuals, Businesses, and Communities”, this is the fourth iteration of UBP’s annual 5-day data privacy and cyber security event.

Selyado 4.0 focuses on the needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The event featured updates, trends, and best practices on data protection, information security, intellectual property, and the digital economy. MSMEs can use and harness these for the expansion of their businesses in the post-pandemic business environment.

Speaking before 450 MSME stakeholders, Atty. Angeles shared the importance of safeguarding Intellectual Property (IP) and how this benefits not only large businesses, but also MSMEs. He cited how even small businesses can “stake their claim” on new business frontiers such as the metaverse and be on par with other players. He also highlighted that MSMEs can take initial low expense preparatory steps such as securing their IP asset to enable their pivot into the digital economy.

Other speakers from the opening ceremony also include Catherine Casas, FVP – Blockchain and API Business Group Head of UnionBank and Atty. Dug Christopher Mah, Deputy Privacy Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission.

MOSVELDTT Law continues to be a partner of UnionBank in their goal of promoting data and information literacy to Filipinos.
