Senior Partner Ephyro Luis Amatong has been appointed as the Program Director of the University of the Philippines Law Center Institute of Government and Law Reform (UP IGLR) new initiative, Sustainable Approaches to Financial, Economic & Robust Growth Program or the SAFER GROWTH Program.
Building on UP IGLR’s commitment to advancing and making the law more accessible, the SAFER GROWTH Program aims to raise the public’s awareness on sustainability and sustainable finance to align with the Sustainable Finance Roadmap of the country. By helping MSMEs implement sustainable practices, SAFER GROWTH aims to create advantages for both businesses and the environment, while also encouraging access to green financing.
On 18 October 2024, the SAFER GROWTH program will be launched with an event for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), entitled “Resilient & Ready: Making Sustainability Work for MSMEs”. This capacity-building initiative aims to encourage sustainable business practices among MSMEs, which constitute 99.5% of the businesses in the Philippines. The program will address significant obstacles to sustainability, such as perceived high costs, limited knowledge, and insufficient manpower. It will also promote Sustainability Reporting, which helps MSMEs assess and manage environmental, social, and governance risks. This approach not only enhances business resilience but also reduces costs, and boosts productivity for the participating MSMEs.
